PREVENTATIVE MEASURES

The best way to handle a lost pet is to prevent it from happening in the first place. Here are some key steps to keep your pet safe:

Perimeter Checks:
Regularly inspect your yard or property for gaps in fences, holes, or weak spots where your pet could escape. A secure perimeter is your first line of defense against a runaway pet.

Closed Door Policy:
Establish a strict “closed door policy” in your household. Train family members and guests to ensure doors and gates are always closed, especially during busy times like deliveries or gatherings, to prevent your pet from slipping out unnoticed.

Sign Up for a Drone Pet Recovery Search Membership:

KEEP CALM AND STRATEGIZE

If your pet does go missing, the first step is to stay calm so you can think clearly and act effectively. Here’s how to strategize:

Know Your Pet’s Behaviors:

Consider your pet’s habits. Does your dog tend to run long distances, or does he have a favorite park or neighbor’s house where he might go? Is your cat likely to hide in a nearby shed or tree? Understanding your pet’s tendencies can help narrow down the search area.

Take Note of Key Details:

Write down the last time you saw your pet and their exact location. This information will be crucial for planning the search.

Post on Social Media:

Share a post about your missing pet on local social media pages, especially lost pet groups. Include a clear photo, your pet’s name, description, and the last known location. Community support can be invaluable in spreading the word quickly.

REQUEST A PET RECOVERY SEARCH

Hopefully, you signed up for a Skyline Pet Recovery membership as a preventative measure, giving you immediate access to drone pet recovery services. If not, don’t worry—you can still request our help. Here’s how:

If You Don’t Have a Membership:
Visit skylinepetrecovery.com/map to see if you are in a covered area.

If you are within the service area, visit skylinepetrecovery.com/pet-recovery-search to request a one-time Immediate Rescue Search for $249. You’ll need to process a payment for the service after filling out the request form.

If You Have a Membership:
Go to skylinepetrecovery.com/HELP. Sign in using your email and password, then complete the short form.

Form Details:
Provide as much detail as possible about the meet-up location. If you can, use your phone’s map app to pinpoint the location, copy the link, and paste it into the form. This helps our drone operator know exactly where to meet you and prepare for the search.

Submit the Form:
Once submitted, your request will be processed, and we’ll take the next steps to dispatch a drone operator.

HANG TIGHT

After submitting your request, Skyline Pet Recovery will dispatch a drone operator to assist. Our team will check the location for airspace restrictions, weather conditions, and other factors that might affect the search. The drone operator will call you at the phone number you provided to arrange a suitable time frame for the operation, ensuring conditions are optimal for thermal imaging.

GATHER MATERIALS

While waiting for the drone operator, gather the following materials to ensure a smooth search process:

A cell phone to stay in contact with the drone operator.

A leash and collar to secure your pet if located.

Comfort items: dog blankets, toys, beds, treats, or other items that carry a familiar scent to help attract your pet.

A picture of your pet, if available, and knowledge of their breed and approximate size to assist the drone operator in identifying them.

MEET THE DRONE OPERATOR

Meet the drone operator at the requested location at the scheduled time. The operator will discuss a strategy with you and ask key questions to optimize the search:

What type of pet are you looking for (e.g., dog, cat, horse)?

What is the pet’s size and appearance?

When was the last time you saw your pet, and where?

Does your pet have any favorite spots or hiding places?

Are there any hazards in the surrounding area (e.g., busy roads, bodies of water, dense woods)?

This collaborative approach ensures the search is as effective as possible.

EXPECTATIONS

While drone pet recovery services offer a powerful tool for locating lost pets, there is no reliable data on success rates, so no guarantees can be made.

However, Skyline Pet Recovery’s thermal imaging technology and vast terrain coverage significantly increase the likelihood of finding your pet compared to traditional search methods. Our drones can detect heat signatures across large areas, even in challenging environments, giving you a better chance of a happy reunion.

PET RETRIEVAL

If the drone operator successfully locates your pet, they will guide you to the specific location using the thermal drone’s data.

Keep your cell phone handy to communicate with the operator during the process. If the search area is outside cell service range, radio communications may be used as an alternative to ensure you can follow the operator’s directions.

Pets can sometimes be stuck in survival mode. So they may not immediately recognize you and run up to you. Afterall, they are not expecting you to show up if they've been missing for a while. Take your time and approach slowly.

Once at the location, you’ll be responsible for retrieving and securing your pet. The drone operator must remain in control of the aircraft and is prohibited from entering private property to retrieve a pet.
